This is the “secret” formula to a robust system and routine by which you will live, flourish and thrive. This is a list that I hope you copy, paste, print or re-write in your own style and fully divulge in.This is the key, to being healthy, happy and well. There are no big secrets and no fancy pills or gimmicks.
All the best,
Helen.
- Eat a balanced diet. Fill your cupboards, fridge and plates with plenty of (ideally organic) vegetables, fruit, good quality meat (like grass-fed or wild), and fish caught in the wild is the best.
- Drink filtered water. More than 1.5 litre a day = optimum.
- Spending time outdoors. This means in the fresh air, the best time to do this is the morning, to get light exposure and of course, moving around! Soak up your surroundings and get out in all weathers, dress accordingly.
- Movement. I like to tell my clients that “motion is lotion” and to remember, all movement is good. More movement is great! Remember that staying active on a regular basis will support your longevity. You don’t need to sprint, do crazy adrenaline rush activity or sign up to a fancy gym. You just need to move your body, every day.
- Prioritise good quality sleep that aligns with the body’s natural rhythm—going to bed and waking up at consistent, healthy times. The sweet spot is 10pm and regular bed and wake up times are optimum for the body.
- Reducing exposure to harmful substances, you can do this by drinking clean water, choosing organic produce when possible and cutting back on processed foods and sugary drinks. Do your best to limit alcohol and if you want my advice, quit smoking and vaping altogether!
Think about what you put inside and onto (tattoos, injectables, creams etc) your body. - Social connection by reconnecting face-to-face. Taking daily breaks from screens and technology to talk, with real people, in real time. This will help us with so many mental/emotional challenges, confidence, general fulfilment and most importantly, rebuild a sense of real community around us.
- Chill out. Find a way manage stress survival, an unavoidable part of life unfortunately. This will be very individual for us all but it is crucial to find a way to de-stress and disconnect from the stressors. This is a lifestyle adjustment we all need to slot in somewhere and find a way to relax. Remember that rest is different to sleep.
- Find what brings you joy.
Again, it’s different for everyone — maybe it’s creating, singing, learning something new, spending time with animals, train spotting or simply reading in a cosy spot at home! Whatever it is, choose something that fits your lifestyle and circumstances, lifts your mood, and helps you through tough times. Most importantly, it should support your growth and bring a sense of calm and contentment. Can’t wait to hear about your chosen joyful activity.
